Allright.... what the heck is this show all about? I have never heard of it, but the fan site seems to be all over it. I'm assuming it's a space-age Buffy, since it's written (mostly) by Joss Whedon..... but there has to be more, right?
Anyway, I couldn't find a link to the movie trailer. Anyone got a better one?

The link was at the top of the page Here it is: www.apple.com/trailers/universal/serenityIt was a Sci-Fi series that was dropped because of "low" ratings, (only on a couple of months, bad time-slot no network support), I have no idea where these suits get these ratings because they couldn't keep the DVD collection in stock. So the folks at Universal wised up...sort of, and shot it as a feature film. They slated it for Sept. 30 release...but their test screenings are off the charts and the distibutors are complaining because they feel it would have been huge over the summer. Now it looks like it may be moved up from the Sept. 30 release date...perhaps to the beginning of Sept. It's got a interesting story line, very dark...twisted even. No aliens, but the humans are alien enough. Great characters tho, and no explosion sounds in space

No Aliens??? Well, there's your answer.... if the general public isn't fed a constant stream of humanoids with bumby foreheads, bad teeth and terrible faux-Brit accents, they lose interest. However, no explosion sounds in space... now that's refreshing. I may have to order up a copy of this series on DVD and check it out. Anyone who makes even a small attempt at realism in a space-opera type show gets props in my book. While we're on the subject of TV shows which slipped 'under the radar', anyone here seen the Deadwood series??? If not, do yourself a favor: pick up all of the first 3 seasons and watch them back-to-back. You won't regret it. Chris

Holy nuts! This looks awesome! A lot of this realistic "Final Fantasy" feeling. I just hope they did a better storyline on this one, because the Final Fantasy one was - opposed to the deep and detailed of the games - rather bad. Anyone saw the movie / played the games?
