What is a 'small space station'? Manual pg 16 exerpt: "If your ship is equipped with a Tractor Beam Generator it can tow other ships up to two sizes bigger than the ship and small Space Stations." the manual talks about towing them, and the forum has a mention about possibly naming the station sizes, but nothing divinitive i could find :/ *hugs* Leliel

Ah was just wondering how big of space stations i could haul back and forth across the quadrant oh also, a planetary manufacturing facility can assemble scouts, can a space station manufacturing facility do the same? (assuming there was a free docking port to put it in.) Or would i still need a Shipyard?

Yeah I suppose you could use a station's manufacturing center to build scouts.

And in that case, how would the officers and crew be recruited? Supposing that the space station is'nt in orbit of a colonized planet. This applies for the regular station shipyard as well, no??
Do these have to be transported to the station???

Thanks Eric ^^
And kalouma, Yeah, crew/officers for a station built ship need to be transported in somehow. I read about it in one of the threads someplace (though i con't for the life of me find it atm), there was also a suggestion that robocrew could be used, through that would obviously require having (or building) robocrew on hand. An officer would still need to be brought over from a planet someplace though.

I'll add the link to the first story as soon as i find it... Edit: Alright i found the other thread. The difference between the threads is simply the owner of the space station ^^; I was remembering a thread about restocking crew to ships from a trade tri-system space port. ^^; stellarempires.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=qna&action=display&thread=1108605266

If you own the station, then I'm going to allow you to use the hire crew and assign captain commands. However if you don't own the station then you have three options: 1) You can load up the necessary crew and Captain onto another ship and travel to where your new ship is and teleport the crew and Captain aboard. This option isn't really practical if you don't have any ships with large personnel transportation capacities. 2) If you don't have any ships that can transport enough crew, another solution would be to use another ship to tow the new vessel to a planet where you have a colony or a city then you can use the regular hire crew and Assign captain commands. 3) This one is brand new, just thought of it now. You could also hire one of your Shipping Companies (provided you have some) to send the crew and Captain over. Edit: Alright i found the other thread. The difference between the threads is simply the owner of the space station ^^; I was remembering a thread about restocking crew to ships from a trade tri-system space port. ^^; In this thread the poster is talking about one of his ships which he had made exit Hyperspace inside an asteroid field (oopsy and that act resulted in his ship being severely damaged and many crew dying. So he needed new crew and was far far from home. :-)
