This is only a small change, but I think it will greatly enhance the realism on one side and the diversity inside the game on another. I suggest to measure the ship sizes not by slots, but by mass (in tons). Of course, every component would then need an additional attribute "mass". Why this change? The current systems counts every item as equal to all others, which is, in my opinion, not quite accurate. Simply adding additional armor plating to my class should not make a scout a fregate (just an example). The measurement in mass would allow to express the diversity between small and large systems (apart from the energy drain). I.e., you could decide if you want one more big juggernaut-cannon or several small point-defense ones. This could apply to all units: ships, stations, ground/air/sea units - even items. The level of detail this change would take is adjustable, so I'll leave to Erics hands. What do you think? Is that suitable for the game? Is it worth the change or not? Why not? Regards, Kurai
